Solo Artiste - Number 3

Back to Solo and Duo Artistes

"Nobody plays guitar like him" is a refrain that has accompanied this man throughout his lengthy music career. His slinky country tinged style and great material makes for a memorable experience while his left-handed upside down technique confounds guitar enthusiasts everywhere.

He grew up in New Zealand and had his formative playing experiences there. By his late teens he was established as one of the country's best musicians.

Moving to New York in the late 1970's, he fronted his own successful indie band releasing several critically acclaimed albums, all the while attracting attention as a guitarist to be reckoned with. Over the next 15 years he became a mainstay on the N.Y. scene; recording, writing and touring with many well known artists including Marshall Crenshaw, Curtis Stygers and the Roches to name a few.

These days He goes out solo, playing his own songs, alongside favourites from Johnny Cash to Jimi Hendrix.
